It goes without saying that the number one thought on everyone's mind is a resolution for the new year as we are reaching the end of the year. It is therefore also save to assume that we are all thinking about what we wanna do to reach our goals and how we plan to achieve that.
Time flies really really fast! Especially when it's nearing the end of the year. And before I know it, it is already 20 days into the month of December! Very late to be posting my November 2016 savings and expenses. But I can't let it stop after documenting for the past 10 months. This is what happens when you keep putting off something to the next day and it never gets done.
'Cash is King!' This is a long time catch phrase through so many generations. Online payments, cashless payments like PayPal, ApplePay, AndroidPay probably took some shine off the King, but it is still and in my opinion should always be King.
Every time my birthday nears, I try to come up with the gifts that can gift to my to signify this special day. Striving to be different this year, i decided not to buy any gifts on impulse and instead, I am going to reflect on the year that had gone past with regards to my financial situation as well as the various money challenges I set out at the beginning of the year.
The night before our gynae visit was full of excitement and anticipation. We kept telling Chloe about the visit to the doctor and asking her opinion of whether she will have a little brother or sister. To which she gave mixed response of 'didi' (brother) and 'meimei' (sister).
October being my birth month is usually the lowest point of the year for me. In the financial sense that is. But i am very proud to say that with my savings plan that i set out at the beginning of the year, it's not such a bad birthday month for me this time round.
Local banks in Singapore have been doing a lot in recent years to attract customers by increasing their interest rates, giving freebies and many after sales services in an attempt to 'psycho' us to open a savings account with them.
Whew! Where do I even begin? September 2016 is nothing short of breathtaking for me. This is the month where my business venture KidzDash starts operation in Great World City after many months of preparation. A truly whole new experience with a very steep learning curve.
This is also the month of my daughter Chloe's 2nd birthday. Can't believe she is 2 years old already and I was still thinking it was just yesterday that I started to track her expenses!
Another exciting as well as a pleasant surprise for my wife and I was that we got to know of our 2nd baby and after confirmation and consultation with our gynae, we are set on course expecting the coming of this little one in Apr/May 2017! Just awesome!
Back to the September expenses and savings update, here's how it all went down.
Monthly Expenses September 2016
Necessity
House ($508.00) - Groceries shopping and other household items make up this list. Notable expense this month is a new 24 inch Philips TV bought for $199 at NTUC.
There was once a very strong woodcutter who applied for a job in a timber factory and he got it. The pay was really good and so were the work condition. For those reasons, the woodcutter was determined to do his best.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Bankrupt Dad
I came across an old article from a few years back. 2012 to be exact. The article was titled "Rich Dad Poor Dad is now a bankrupt dad". My thoughts were that it's a very ridiculous statement considering how famous and wealthy he probably is. I later found out that it was actually a media company Robert Kiyosaki had used for promotion of his books and convention being sued for bankruptcy due to them not being able to pay off their debts.
All of us will at one point of time in our life think of making it big, creating success and be financially free.
I myself had in an earlier post thought that i am on my way to becoming successful and on my way to being a millionaire as a 16 year old agent renting out properties.

When i was in primary school, i came across what i perceived as the greatest invention ever! The photocopier, the photocopy machine or whichever way you call it.
Bear in mind that a photocopier is different from a printer. A printer just prints what you want it to. But a photocopier is able to copy the exact image you fit into it and then prints it out. How cool is that?
So i asked myself a question every inquisitive 12 year old might have asked. Why can't i photocopy money? I'll be rich! Very rich!
Only problem is... i can't afford a photocopier, a printer or anything for that matter.
Fast forward 20 years...(ok maybe more than 20 years). I now have a photocopier, printer, scanner and all that stuff. Guess what i be doing with them? Let them work their magic! Baby! Yeah!
The result? Total failure...as can be seen from my awful photo above. Turns out that our normal photocopy machine are just not equipped to print money. And even if you succeed, you might just end up like this guy who was caught producing and using fake $50 notes. (http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/man-arrested-for/2833250.html)
In actual fact we do have strict laws against reproduction of our currency and multiple security features to deter counterfeit notes. Which is why not any Tom, Dick or Harry like myself is able to scan some notes for printing and then go on a spending spree.
A quick check on how anti currency counterfeits are kept in check revealed that there are currencies which prevents photocopiers and scanners from reproducing them. Photocopiers will detect the security features on the currency and recognise it as a currency preventing it to be copied. Awesome!
Looks like it's much safer to multiply my money through my savings challenges and index investing.
House ($395.28) - Aircon servicing for my 3 aircons for $100. Bought a wifi repeater for $39 and it works like a charm. Used to have unstable connection in my room, but with the repeater i have the POWER of WIFI! Hahaha, Groceries shopping, utilities and other household items make up this list.
